Synopsis: John Case takes on the defence of a man accused of a child kidnap and murder, only to find that his client, apart from swearing that he is innocent, will not help in the preparation of his own defence. As the case proceeds, more evidence mounts up against the accused, and Case's task seems hopeless as he discovers his client is a bigamist and an embezzler.

Synopsis: John Case is involved in the subject of euthanasia when Dr. Brian Marks has to make an agonising decision. Toby McGee - a footballer facing a future of fame and fortune - is cut down in his prime by a cruel motor car accident. The question Case faces is who switched off the machine which was keeping McGee alive?

Synopsis: A once big-time architect, his wife, mother and his mentally retarded brother are only a few of the weird Lattimer family that Case meets when he is briefed by Mrs. Charles Lattimer Snr. to defend her daughter-in-law. A look into the family history is called for and Case discovers that history can repeat itself.

Synopsis: A girl meets and falls in love with a young Israeli man in New York. When she returns to Australia a chance handshake threatens to destroy her family and her future happiness. Case finds himself defending a Nazi as many secrets are revealed and the past catches up with an Israeli family.

Synopsis: A common enough 'open-and-shut' case on the surface - a young man and a young girl who cries "rape".  Case discovers that a barrister should keep himself uninvolved in emotional and personal issues in a matter of this nature. Lightning strikes twice as Case realises his personal loss.

Synopsis: When a woman approaches her family doctor and requests artificial insemination, neither she nor the doctor anticipates the consequences years later when two young people fall in love and the doctor realises they are half brother and sister.

Synopsis: Kendall Brooks throws a party to celebrate the launching of his new book. John Case and Win Blake are among the guests who witness a re-enactment of the final chapter. But things are not quite as they first appear. And whilst preparing his brief, Case discovers that it isn't quite 'Murder by the Book'.

Synopsis: Ted Johnson, sentenced for life for a combined embezzlement / murder charge, has been a model prisoner over the years he has been in prison. He is now on a work-release scheme, aimed at his rehabilitation, which allows him to go into the outside world, take a job and re-establish himself in society. When embezzlement and murder take place in his new factory, Ted is the main suspect, especially when he disappears soon after.

Synopsis: John Case becomes involved in an attempt to get a review of the sanity of a woman committed to an institution for the murder of her husband. She is released at his instigation, despite the protests of her family, who seem determined to see her remain committed. After her release, her behaviour makes us ask... was John Case in the right? Or is she in fact insane?
