Synopsis: Homicide detectives pursue 'Blue' Carmody in rugged mountain bushland, after he murdered a Forests Commission officer who ordered him to put out a fire on a total fire ban day. Two women at a roadhouse assist him.

Notes: Experimental all-film episode with a significantly increased budget. No studio scenes are featured, the episode being filmed almost entirely on location at Mt. Cathedral, near Buxton. The very small number of interior scenes were also shot on film, video tape not being used. The role of 'Blue' Carmody was originally intended for Ed Deveraux.

Synopsis: A motorist is killed in a crash on the Hume Highway when his car goes up in flames. Police examine the wreck and suspect that petrol was poured inside it before the crash occurred, and it becomes a case for Homicide. Investigations lead to Barbara Watson, the wife of a man who planned a murder to swindle an insurance company.

Synopsis: A shot is fired at the celebrated Polish painter Alex Kapolski during an exhibition of his work. Police at first believe it is a prank, but they think again when Alex receives a note threatening his life.


Notes: Terry Stapleton scripted this episode with actor/poet/painter Wladyslaw Dutkiewicz in mind, with whom he worked in theatre in Adelaide. The character of Alex Kapolski is based on Dutkiewicz's real life.

Synopsis: As motor-cycle policeman Const. Bourke overtakes a speeding car on the Geelong Highway, the driver deliberately rams him sending Bourke to his death as the bike crashes over a bank in flames.

Notes: Segments filmed in Geelong. The motorcycle for the crash stunt bounced back narrowly missing cameraman Alan Arnold who was pulled out of the way. The film was retained in the episode.
