Synopsis: A former Sydneysider, Tom Carrell, is shot dead while riding a motor scooter, and young Sydney vice squad detective Peter Barnes, who is in Melbourne on exchange duties, assists the Homicide squad in their investigations.

Notes: First episode with George Mallaby as Det. Peter Barnes. The addition of a fourth detective was brought about because the expanding scope of Homicide was proving a strain on the existing actors for location filming. This had resulted in the use of a number of 'part time' detectives into the cast, most notably Det. Doug Marshall played by Gordon Timmins. Mallaby did not appear on the opening credits until ep. 133.

Synopsis: When a man out rabbiting is shot and critically wounded, pop star Gavin Jones from the 'Love-In' discotheque becomes a prime suspect because of his fanatical hatred of blood sports and animal killers. Detective Barnes, young and still unknown in Victoria, is disguised as a hippie to hunt down the murderer. The clues to the murder lie in the lyrics of three songs (heard during a discotheque sequence).

Notes: Features music specially written by David Herzog and Andrew Tainsh (son of scriptwriter Douglas Tainsh), members of the pop group 'The Keystones'. The voice of singer Tony Barber was dubbed for David Goddard, who plays the role of singer Gavin Jones.
